About the Barkery
Drake: the inspiration
Barkery owner, Joyce Smith became a dog parent July 2, 2021 when she got puppy Drake, a Cane Corso. Joyce has worked in the medical profession for 35 years and just as she has cared for the health and well being of her patients over the years, she does the same for her big boy Drake. After a year, she grew concerned about Drake's weight as his breed is susceptible to hip and joint problems; and he was growing quite big and strong. Part of her journey in training Drake employed dog treats. She wanted to provide him an all-natural, healthy dog dessert and treats made with simple and sustainable ingredients; mirroring similar desserts for humans... So the research began!
After reviewing nutritional labels on Drakes food as well as noting what was hazardous to dogs, Joyce was amazed at how normal healthy foods for humans were harmful for pet consumption. She then decided to make him treats with nutritionally sound ingredients that she could pronounce... and the baking began!
After several weeks of baking dog treats for friends and colleagues, she soon discovered that not only Drake, but her other dog clients preferred her treats to other well known treats; thus, Paws & Preferences blossomed into a licensed and registered business. We create visually appealing, tasty treats for dogs of all sizes... TREATS THAT THEY PREFER!

Yes! Our goal is to assure that all dog parents read the label and treat their pet with ingredients that are natural and recognizable.
We use oat flour ,wheat flour, rice flour, coconut flour and tapioca flour.
Gluten free treats are available upon request.
We use zero added sugar and xylitol free peanut butter
Our treats are available for small, medium and large sized dogs.
No! We are aware that chocolate is toxic to dogs; therefore, we us carob chips and carob powder to replicate chocolate.
